The capital stock is held by the French mineral oil enterprise Soci\u00e9t\u00e9 d\u2019Hydrocarbures de Saint-Denis (80 percent share) and Soci\u00e9t\u00e9 d\u2019Hydrocarbures de l\u2019Est (20 percent). Production at the business site M\u00fclheim an der Ruhr began in 1967. <br><br>In 1988 Ruhr Oel GmbH, a 50:50 joint venture of VEBA Oel AG and Petr\u00f3leos de Venezuela S.A. (PDVSA), became the 100 percent shareholder of DHC. During the year 2002 BP Deutschland purchased VEBA Oel in its entirety and thus became a joint venture partner of Ruhr Oel.
