OUR HISTORY.

DHC was founded in 1964 as “Deutsche Hydrocarbures, Gesellschaft mit beschränkter Haftung, Spezialbenzine und Aromaten”. The capital stock is held by the French mineral oil enterprise Société d’Hydrocarbures de Saint-Denis (80 percent share) and Société d’Hydrocarbures de l’Est (20 percent). Production at the business site Mülheim an der Ruhr began in 1967.

In 1988 Ruhr Oel GmbH, a 50:50 joint venture of VEBA Oel AG and Petróleos de Venezuela S.A. (PDVSA), became the 100 percent shareholder of DHC. During the year 2002 BP Deutschland purchased VEBA Oel in its entirety and thus became a joint venture partner of Ruhr Oel. In 2011 the Russian oil major enterprise Rosneft Holdings Limited S.A. gained the shares of PDVSA.

In 2017 BP and Rosneft have terminated the joint venture, and BP Europa SE has completely taken over the DHC plant in Mülheim an der Ruhr.
